Ohio State Women’s Hockey Beats No. 1 Wisconsin, 2-1, to Secure WCHA Final Faceoff Championship

The Ohio State women’s hockey team is on a roll.

After taking care of business in Madison in February, beating then-No. 1 Wisconsin 4-1 on the road, the Buckeyes did it again on Saturday, beating the Badgers 2-1 in the WCHA Final Faceoff to win the conference championship and punch their ticket to the NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Championship tournament.

With both teams scoreless through nearly the game’s first 50 minutes, Wisconsin took a 1-0 lead with 10:02 remaining in the game.

Less than five minutes later, freshman Hilda Svensson knotted things at 1-1 with a tremendous backhanded tip to open the scoring for Ohio State.
