King Charles Likely to ‘Abdicate’ the Throne to Prince William Amid Ex-Prince Andrew Arrest

Beleaguered King Charles is planning to abruptly abdicate the throne to son Prince William, citing health issues, sources say. But in reality, the dying monarch wants to bail on his short-lived reign over fears that the criminal investigation into his trouble-magnet brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor may expose a massive palace cover-up that could put the $28 billion royal empire at risk, insiders tell Globe.

Andrew was arrested for questioning on Feb. 19 — his 66th birthday — by U.K. investigators, who scoured his current and former homes for possible evidence to prove he shared confidential government secrets with pedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein in a moneymaking side hustle, while the then-prince served as the nation’s official trade envoy from 2001 to 2011.

While publicly supporting the investigation, sources say cancer-stricken Charles, 77, is privately wringing his hands because authorities are combing through Andrew’s personal papers and financial records, which may suggest that the king, his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and the Firm — the team who runs Buckingham Palace — knew about the alleged treasonous scheme.
“King Charles is going to step down. He is going to abdicate, and they are going to use the excuse of his health, which has been declining because [the situation with Andrew] has been very stressful and almost too much for him to bear,” a royal insider tells Globe.
“Charles knew more than he let on, and the whole family has been covering this up. They are all complicit. The whole [royal] machine is complicit in this — from the top down!”

The insider believes the palace plans to save face with a historic summer coronation of squeaky-clean Prince William, 43, and his elegant wife — 44-year-old Catherine, Princess of Wales — hoping the pomp and circumstance will divert the public’s attention from the raging scandal.
“The situation is getting worse and worse by the day,” the insider says. “Everybody knows Prince William has been ruthless from the beginning about removing his uncle. He’s going to do nothing to protect Andrew.”
The former Duke of York was treated like a common criminal following his historic arrest as he was fingerprinted, photographed and interrogated under oath for nearly 12 hours before being released without being charged.

Criminal defense attorney Mark Stephens from the renowned U.K. law firm Howard Kennedy LLP tells Globe it was necessary to arrest Andrew to prevent him from possibly destroying evidence that may show he was lining his pockets as trade envoy by sharing valuable intel with late creep Epstein.
“A royal being arrested is unprecedented!” Stephens says. “It’s the first time that a senior member of the royal family has been arrested in living memory, and it was certainly overdue.”
Dogged by allegations that he sexually abused barely legal slaves provided by Epstein, Andrew’s fate seemed to be sealed by recently released U.S. Department of Justice documents, which included damning emails that suggest the slimy schmoozer fed his American billionaire buddy top secret info during his envoy tenure.
In a face-saving move, Charles — who stripped Andrew of his royal titles, even though the demoted ex-duke has denied any wrongdoing — appears to have tossed his brother under the bus by vowing to give investigators his “wholehearted support and cooperation.”

But insiders believe the king’s failure to publicly defend his sibling may backfire since the now cash-starved Andrew and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, 66, are considering selling their explosive palace secrets to the highest bidder in a tell-all book about Charles and the death of his ex-wife, Princess Diana.

“Andrew and Fergie know where all the bodies are buried, so to speak,” says a second royal spy, referring to long-simmering allegations that Diana’s car crash death in 1997 was no accident.
“I’ll tell the truth about Diana!” disgraced Andrew once declared, according to a source.
Sources confide the ailing king’s decision to step down is driven by his desire to protect the legacy of his beloved mother, who died at age 96 in September 2022. Some believe the indulgent queen turned a blind eye to favorite son Andrew’s bad behavior — and relied on the Firm to clean up any misdeeds.

“The queen just thought Andrew was a naughty playboy, but the whole machine was complicit in covering him to protect their own brand,” the royal insider tells Globe. “Prince William wants to fix the monarchy because he knows it’s the right thing to do. He has better morals, and he is interested in the preservation of the monarchy.”
