Adama Traore could get the chance to act on the advice that Pep Guardiola gave him in 2024 when West Ham United host Manchester City on Saturday night.

With Crysencio Summerville injured, a space in the West Ham United team could well have opened up for Traore.

Indeed, for the first time since his move from Fulham, Traore played well for West Ham in their FA Cup win over Brentford.

Let’s hear it then – what have you made of Adama Traore so far? 🤔

With Summerville almost certain to miss the City game, the Spaniard could be handed his first meaningful start for the Hammers.

As such, it’s worth looking back on some advice Guardiola gave Traore back in 2024.

Guardiola gave Traore advice on how to finish chances

The City boss was seen speaking with Traore on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium after his side had beaten Fulham 3-2 in October 2024.

The conversation conjured up images of Guardiola’s animated chat with Nathan Redmond after City beat Southampton in November 2017.

Reflecting on his chat with Guardiola, Traore revealed he had given him advice on how to finish the chances he was presented during Fulham’s defeat to City.

Speaking to El Larguero in October 2024, Traore said: “After the game he came up to me to tell it was a good game, he gave me some pointers on how to finish the chances I had against them.”

It would be quite the irony, then, if Traore ensured that advice came back to haunt Guardiola on Saturday…

Traore’s record against Guardiola

It has often been said throughout his career that Traore lacks an end product. A record of 34 goals and 52 assists in 392 senior career appearances would probably attest to that.

Still, he has previously done well against Guardiola sides.

In fact, perhaps the high point of his career when Traore bagged a brace for Wolves against City in October 2019.

In fact, City are the team that Traore has enjoyed the most success against in his entire career.

Traore has scored three times against Guardiola’s City – more than any other team he’s ever played come up against.
