NBA Insider Shams Charania unveils how soon Lakers’ LeBron James could retire

Diving for the ball against a championship-contending Denver Nuggets squad at the age of 41 is nothing short of spectacular. However, LeBron James makes it look very easy which proves that he still has quite a lot left in the tank. He already got his wish to play alongside Bronny James in the Los Angeles Lakers while also contending for the Larry O’Brien trophy in a Luka Doncic-led squad. The only thing left might be that fifth ring or seeing Bryce James in the NBA. Regardless, Shams Charania and the rest of the association posits that the time or retirement for The King nears.
James retirement future rests on the Lakers’ hands
The Lakers currently sit at third in the Western Conference standings. They have just beaten a contender in the Nuggets and have won eight-straight games to chose the second-seeded San Antonio Spurs. All things are going well for them but James knows that these things often do not matter much when the NBA Playoffs come around. So, it will be up to whether or not he thinks staying a year more to chase a Larry O’Brien trophy alongside JJ Redick and Luka Doncic become worth his health, via Shams Charania on Get Up ESPN.
“LeBron hasn’t made a decision on whether he’s going to continue to play. I think the feeling around LeBron James and the league is he’ll go at least one more season. A lot of how the Lakers season finishes will play a big factor into LeBron James’ future,” the NBA Insider declared.
James, despite the huge plays at clutch moments, averages career-lows that have not been seen since the 2003-04 season. The Lakers are only getting 21.3 points out of him when he plays. More than that, he is also shooting an abysmal 31.1% from three-point range. He has also clocked in a mere 4.2 rebound average. Those conditions are also only met when he is on the court. The Lakers have only seen him play 46 out of 67 games so far.
“How does their season end? How does his season end? How is his health? How is he feeling? Mentally, emotionally, and all that. But, did we see that dive?… To me this shows where he’s at as a player. His acts of being really willing to do anything. It’s self-awareness. We’ve seen him at different parts of the season when Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves play really good together. Then, Luka Doncic and LeBron James play really good together,” Charania added.
There is a lot of speculation about the NBA and this decision because it will impact the league in ways that have never been fathomed. One thing might be sure when this Lakers’ 82-game campaign ends, James could be staying for at least 82 more.
