UPDATE: Retrievers landed; UMBC still stuck at the airport due to weather delays

UPDATE: Shortly before 6 p.m. UMBC landed safely in Dayton, Ohio after a length weather delay for the Retrievers’ charter flight out of BWI for the NCAA Tournament.
UMBC men’s basketball is back in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the Retrievers’ historic takedown of the number one seed Virginia in 2018 as the 16 seed. That was a tournament first.
This squad, America East regular season and conference tournament champions, are once again the 16 seed. However, UMBC is in a play-in game apart of the First Four in Dayton, Ohio starting tomorrow night. But right now, UMBC is running behind schedule due to weather at the airport.
UMBC was supposed to be on a 12 p.m. flight to Dayton. Three hours later, they still haven’t left and will miss their 4 p.m. hour media availability to preview tomorrow’s 6:40 tip-off in the First Four against Howard.
