The Summit host teases “emotional” finale of “fantastic adventure” series

The Summit host Ben Shephard has teased an “emotional” end to the “fantastic adventure” series ahead of the final, which airs tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITVX. The reality show follows 14 contestants as they embark on an epic journey to climb to the top of a mountain in New Zealand to be in with a chance of winning a share of the £200,000 cash prize.
Out of all 14 contestants, only four have made it to tonight’s final, with Warren, Dockers, Colleen and Drew set to take on more harsh terrain to reach the top.
Asked how he was feeling about the finale of the show, Shephard said: “It’s just been the most fantastic adventure and journey. I can’t quite believe the viewers are going to find out what happens to the outstanding people we have going into the very last few stages of attempting to summit the mountain.”

Opening up about some of the awe-inspiring moments they experienced while filming, Shephard said: “It brings back lots of very exciting and emotional moments like the absolutely stunning scenery when we get so high up, which none of us will ever forget.
“We could just see for miles across this extraordinary landscape and range of mountains, which was breathtaking. Just the day before, it had been the harshest, most brutal conditions, as a storm blew through from the Antarctic, which then changed overnight, bringing clear skies.”
Teasing fans with what to expect from the final episode, the host said that some twists and surprises are on the way.
“It is a very, very emotional finale,” he explained. “There is a massive surprise yet to come – both a huge, emotional and dramatic moment between the contestants and a final little twist of the knife from the Mountain’s Keeper.”

In the finale, the final four will make the last terrifying ascent to The Summit, facing obstacles along the way, as the Mountain’s Keeper attempts to make things harder.
Ahead of the final ascent, the remaining contestants will have to make one last devastating decision as they decide who goes in the last ever vote-off. With the final climb put in jeopardy by bad weather, who will make it to the top?
The Summit finale airs tonight at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
