Volleyball’s Jackson Herbert Named EIVA Offensive Player of the Week

FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason Men’s Volleyball junior Jackson Herbert was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. This is the opposite hitter’s first weekly conference award of the season as well as his first in his collegiate career.

Herbert was a major contribution for George Mason’s 2-0 weekend, first sweeping Barton College on Friday and powering past FDU on Sunday.

The Ashburn, Virginia, product played six (of a possible seven) sets swinging .563 and totaled 20 kills, the highest among Patriots who played six sets or more. His 15 kills in Sunday’s win over FDU was also a season high. Herbert also had a serve percentage of .833 and two service aces, the second-most on the team for the weekend.

To round out the weekend, Herbert recorded a perfect 1.000 receiving percentage (11 of 11), had five digs, had five block assists and totaled 24.5 points (4.08 points/set). His .294 hitting percentage ranks second in the EIVA.

This is the third consecutive week in which a George Mason player has been named a weekly award winner and the fourth overall this season.

UP NEXT
George Mason (12-7, 2-2 EIVA) will hit the road and return to EIVA action this week, as they will travel to Fairfield, Connecticut, for a two-game series with Sacred Heart. The first game will be on Friday, March 20, at 7 p.m., and the second will be the following day at 4 p.m.
