Who Is Carson Towt? Everything to Know About New Colts TE, Former Notre Dame CBB Player

The Indianapolis Colts added an interesting signing on Tuesday that is sure to raise some eyebrows.
The Colts announced that they’ve signed undrafted free agent tight end Carson Towt, a former college basketball player who most recently played for Notre Dame in 2025.
In a release, the Colts revealed that Towt didn’t play football in high school or college. The team is hoping he will follow a similar path to veteran tight end Mo Alie-Cox, who played basketball at VCU before signing with Indianapolis in 2017. Alie-Cox re-signed with the team on Monday and is now the second-longest tenured member of the roster entering the 2026 campaign.
Towt spent the majority of his college career at Northern Arizona. He led Division I with 12.4 rebounds per game during the 2024-25 season and set a Big Sky Conference record with 423 total rebounds. He started all 31 of his appearances for Notre Dame during the 2025-26 season and averaged 5.9 points and 9.0 rebounds.
The Colts already struck gold at the tight end position with 2025 No. 14 pick Tyler Warren, who was named to the Pro Bowl in his rookie year. He led Indianapolis with 112 targets and totaled 76 catches for 817 yards and four touchdowns.
The Colts also retained veteran quarterback Daniel Jones this offseason, so adding Towt gives him another weapon in the passing attack as he tries to lead Indianapolis back to playoff contention in 2026.
