Prime Video & Leonine Strike Deal For ‘The Housemaid’, ‘The Drama’

Prime Video in Germany and Austria has struck a multi-year deal with Leonine Studios for movies including The Housemaid, The Drama and The Hunger Games – Sunrise on the Reaping.

Under the deal, which comes amid a new wave of partnerships between streamers and local players like Leonine, the Amazon streamer will take all films from the Leonine theatrical slate with theatrical release dates starting January 1 2026, along with six months of exclusive SVoD rights within the pay 2 window, and other library titles.

The deal includes big Hollywood hits like The Housemaid, The Drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, and The Hunger Games – Sunrise on the Reaping. It also includes German productions from Leonine like Ein Fast Perfekter Antrag. Library titles are Asterix and Obelix, The Expendables and John Wick. The pair have previously combined on the likes of docuseries Brabus: One Second Wow.

Leonine CEO Fred Kogel said: “We are very pleased to continue our long-standing, successful collaboration with such a great partner as Prime Video in the coming years. The agreement, which includes our current major box office hit The Housemaid as the first film, underscores the outstanding quality of our programming and the confidence Prime Video continues to place in us as a top-tier content provider.”

Andreas Hartmann, Head of Licensing and Co-Production at Prime Video Germany, added: “With this multi-year agreement, we’re bringing high-quality feature films and premium content exclusively to our customers in Germany and Austria—from international blockbusters to successful German productions. This underscores our commitment to establishing Prime Video as the leading streaming service for premium entertainment.”

Mediawan-owned Leonine produces and distributes shows along with owning the likes of Beetz Brothers and Wiedemann & Berg Film.

Streamers have been tying more with big local players over the past few months including a Prime Video deal with France Télévisions and, in Germany, Disney+’s partnership with ZDF.
