Delta flight returns to Atlanta because of engine, tire issue

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Delta Air Lines flight turned back to Atlanta’s airport Wednesday because of an engine and tire issue, a spokesperson said.
Flight 828 took off from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport around 2:30 p.m. for Springfield, Missouri, and turned back to Hartsfield-Jackson after an issue “with one of the aircraft’s engines and tires,” a spokesperson for the Atlanta-based airline said.

An Atlanta News First camera at the airport saw a Delta plane surrounded by emergency vehicles on the tarmac.
The Boeing 717 aircraft was towed to the gate, where its 110 passengers, two pilots and three flight attendants exited.
The spokesperson said passengers are being given snacks and beverages while they await a new flight to Springfield.
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, and we apologize to our customers for their experience,” the spokesperson said.
