Wyatt Johnston breaks Stars’ all-time single-season power play goals record

Wyatt Johnston now stands alone.

With his 23rd power play goal of the 2025-26 campaign, Johnston passed Dino Ciccarelli to become the Stars’ franchise record holder for power play goals in a single season. Johnston officially broke the record on Sunday to tie the game 1-1 against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The goal might prove crucial for the Stars, who need just one point from the game to clinch their fifth consecutive playoff berth.

Johnston had previously tied Ciccarelli’s record on March 12 against the Edmonton Oilers. Ciccarelli set the franchise’s single-season mark for power play goals (22) in 1986-87 when he played for the Minnesota North Stars.

This is the second power play goal record Johnston has claimed this season. In February, he surpassed Mike Modano’s Dallas single-season record for power play goals (18).

The 22-year-old center is having the best season of his young career, with new highs in goals and points. His 23 power play goals this season are more than his career total of 17 coming into the year.
