Player Ratings: Real Madrid 3-2 Atletico Madrid

Player Ratings: Real Madrid 3-2 Atletico Madrid

Andriy Lunin: 7
His distribution needed to be better, and he nearly gifted Atletico a goal with one poor giveaway. Still, he made five saves and could do little about either of the two goals conceded.

Dani Carvajal: 6
He struggled defensively against Lookman at times, though he did provide some useful support going forward.

Antonio Rüdiger: 7
Tasked with shifting wide to help deal with Lookman, he looked a step slower than usual. Even so, he remained solid overall and distributed the ball very well.

Dean Huijsen: 8
His passing was almost flawless, and he made seven important clearances over the course of the night.

Fran Garcia: 7.5
He continues to provide excellent minutes in the absence of Carreras and Mendy. He’s winning the ball, pressing effectively, creating overloads, and playing with good verticality.

Fede Valverde: 9
Phenomenal. He won’t be punished here for a red card he never should have received. His intensity was relentless, Atletico struggled badly with his physicality and pressing, and he capped another huge performance with a great goal.

Thiago Pitarch: 6
One of his weaker performances so far. His effort was there as always, but he needed to be more careful in possession, and his defensive positioning left room for improvement.

Aurelien Tchouameni: 7.5
Very solid. He occupied good positions in the box and was dependable in possession throughout.

Arda Güler: 7
At times Atletico simply couldn’t get near him when he drifted through tight spaces. He gave the ball away on a couple of occasions, but overall his distribution was sharp and his dribbling was a real asset.

Brahim Diaz: 7.5
He worked hard defensively, dribbled well, and made smart off-ball runs into the right half-space. He also won a penalty.

Vinicius Jr: 8.5
Atletico threw everything at him in an attempt to limit his space, but he still came away with two goals, including a stunning strike from outside the box.

Kylian Mbappe: 6
He didn’t do much wrong, but he didn’t make much of an impact either. He looked dangerous in transition, but after Valverde’s red card he was often isolated up front or forced to play behind the ball as Atletico pushed Real back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: 7.5
He made a real difference in the second half. He dropped his shoulder, drove forward with the ball, and provided the assist for Vinicius. He is a genuine solution-maker in attack.

Jude Bellingham: 6
His first game back in months. It’s difficult to judge him too harshly on his return; more than anything, it was simply great to see him back on the pitch.

Eduardo Camavinga: 6
He added some defensive presence, though he looked a bit sluggish on the ball.
