The citation said Carpenter drove over a curb into a group of pedestrians and “intentionally caused physical injury to others” with her vehicle.
After being stopped by officers, police said Carpenter had bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. The arrest citation said officers also found a fake ID during a search.
According to the citation, Carpenter refused a breath test and showed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test.
Carpenter is facing multiple charges, including operating a vehicle under the influence, reckless driving, second-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment and licensee allowing a person under 21 to remain on a premises where alcohol is sold.
In a court appearance Monday afternoon, Carpenter’s attorney entered a not guilty plea on her behalf. A judge granted the state’s request to suspend her drivers license until the matter is resolved.
Her next court appearance is April 14.
