Jets set up private workout with QB Ty Simpson in NFL draft intrigue

The Jets will get an up-close look at one of the top quarterbacks in this year’s NFL draft.
The team will have a private workout with Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson on Friday, sources confirmed to The Post. The Jets own the No. 2 and No. 16 picks in the first round of this year’s draft.
While the Jets are not expected to draft a quarterback at No. 2, Simpson could be an option at No. 16. It also has been speculated that the Jets might try to trade up into the late first round to grab Simpson.
They have the No. 33 and No. 44 picks in the second round.
Simpson had his pro day Wednesday and threw for NFL scouts and executives.

The Jets were represented there but coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey were at Ohio State watching the top Buckeyes prospects work out.
Simpson is viewed as the second-best quarterback in this draft after Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, who is expected to be chosen No. 1 by the Raiders.
Simpson started one season for the Crimson Tide and threw for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2025.
