Crews battling fire on roof of downtown Toronto building

Toronto fire crews are responding to a fire on the roof of a downtown building.
Images from Chopper 24 show intense flames and thick black smoke on the roof of a building on Richmond Street West near John Street.
Chopper also captured what appeared to be an explosion, with huge flames shooting toward the sky.
Toronto police say the fire was reported just after 6 p.m. and that the building is under construction.
“Information received that items are possibly exploding and debris may be falling onto the street below,” police said in a post on social media.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
The cause, origin and circumstances of the fire are unknown.
Police say Richmond Street West is closed between Peter and Duncan Streets due to the fire.
