Alabama and Michigan meet in the Sweet 16 today as two of the nation’s top offenses go toe-to-toe.
The Tide have managed without Aden Holloway — and at times made it look easy — but they haven’t faced a defensive unit quite like the top-seeded Wolverines.
My Alabama vs. Michigan predictions and March Madness picks break down why the Wolverines will pull away on Friday, March 27.
- UPDATE: Added prediction for who will win.
Alabama vs Michigan prediction
Who will win Alabama vs Michigan?
Michigan: Their defense erases Alabama’s two highest-volume actions, and the Wolverines won’t allow the Tide to run rampant in transition. When that happens, the absence of Aden Holloway will show up in a big way.
Alabama vs Michigan best bet: Michigan -9 (-116)
Alabama’s entire offensive identity is built around transition, attacks, and kick-outs. The Crimson Tide push the pace at one of the highest rates in college basketball, averaging 17 possessions per 100 that end in an attack-and-kick.
Michigan is built to take that away. The Wolverines rank in the 98th percentile in transition defense and are even better against attack-and-kick actions, sitting in the 99th percentile of college basketball.
Without Aden Holloway, Alabama won’t have enough half-court creation to generate consistent offense. On the other end, the Tide’s shaky rim defense could become a major issue.
COVERS INTEL: One of Michigan’s few weak points is its turnover rate. Unfortunately for Alabama, the Tide doesn’t do much to exploit it, entering this game with a forced turnover rate that ranks 358th nationally.

Alabama vs Michigan same-game parlay
It’s hard to imagine a player more tailor-made to attack a porous rim defense than Aday Mara.
The Wolverines’ center has cleared this number in four of his last five games, and I expect a high-volume role for the big man on Friday.
Alabama vs Michigan SGP
- Michigan -9
- Aday Mara Over 15.5 points
Our Big Dance SGP: Running Point
With LJ Cason sidelined for the year, Elliot Cadeau remains Michigan’s featured facilitator — especially on looks that finish at the rim.
Cadeau has racked up 7+ dimes in three consecutive contests, and I’ve paired his assists prop with the Under, as my projection of 170 falls short of this number.
Alabama vs Michigan SGP
- Michigan -9
- Aday Mara Over 15.5 points
- Elliot Cadeau Over 6.5 assists
- Under 173.5
Alabama vs Michigan odds
- Spread: Alabama +9 (-110) | Michigan -9 (-110)
- Moneyline: Alabama +375 | Michigan -500
