Vikings Intend to Exercise 5th-Year Option for Jordan Addison

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings intend to exercise the team’s fifth-year option on receiver Jordan Addison, Executive Vice President of Football Operations Rob Brzezinski told media members Monday at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting.
“He’s a really important player for us, an impact player,” Brzezinski said. “We’re definitely exercising the option. For sure. The deadline for that is after the draft.”
Teams have the opportunity to exercise fifth-year options to extend rookie contracts of first-round picks. The deadline for doing so for Addison is May 2026 to apply to the 2027 season.
Addison, the 23rd overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, has recorded 175 receptions for 2,396 yards and 22 touchdowns, generating a receiver rating of 93.2.
He’s been productive in tandem with Justin Jefferson, elevating as a rookie when Jefferson missed time because of a hamstring injury.
Addison caught 70 passes for 911 yards and 10 scores in his first NFL season, despite Minnesota starting four different quarterbacks for the first time in one campaign. He garnered NFL Offensive Rookie of Month for October 2023 thanks in part to a dazzling performance against the 49ers and earned placement on PFWA’s All-Rookie Team.
