Orlando prepares for NFL decision on Jacksonville Jaguars 2027 temporary home stadium

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars will play their home games in Orlando in 2027, according to a vote from NFL team owners Tuesday.

The league’s owners voted on the issue Tuesday during their annual meetings.

“The Jaguars couldn’t ask for a better scenario than Orlando and Camping World Stadium as our temporary home in 2027. This couldn’t have happened without the endorsement of the league and team owners who approved our plan two years ago for a renovated Stadium of the Future in Downtown Jacksonville, and we’re especially appreciative of the support of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the process,” team owner Shad Khan said.

“We’re also grateful to the team at Florida Citrus Sports that made this solution a reality that will benefit all, including Jaguars fans just a few hours away in Jacksonville. This is a win that everyone can celebrate.”

  • Florida Citrus Sports and the City of Orlando worked for months to put together a bid for Camping World Stadium to be the Jags home stadium in 2027
  • Businesses owners near Camping World say they are excited for the possibility of hosting a professional football team and its fans

This comes after the city of Orlando and Florida Citrus Sports worked for months to put together a bid to bring the Jags to the City Beautiful.

And with renovations currently ongoing at Camping World, bringing in an NFL team would be the latest evidence of the city’s commitment to growing the area.

Less than half a mile away from Camping World stands Ivanhoe Park Lager House, a brewery that prides itself on its environment.

“We’re just committed to community by doing fun community events and just being a place everyone can come,” said Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company CEO Glenn Closson.

He said community growth was one of the big reasons he decided to open a second location on Orange Blossom Trail.

“We were super excited when this opportunity came up,” Closson said. “And we knew that there was a lot of future growth and that there were a lot of plans for the area, so, we just wanted to be a part of that.”

Ongoing renovations at and around Camping World stadium is proof of that growth.

Increased seating, an improved fan experience and a new multi-purpose center are expected to be added at the stadium in hopes of bringing in more high-profile events.

Closson said it would be exciting to have the Jags in town, especially since the team already has a strong fanbase in Central Florida.

“We do get a good group every Sunday during the season to kind of watch the Jaguars play,” he said. “So if they come, it would be just insane getting crowds of Jags fans in here and kind of building on the excitement of it and see it keep growing.”

Closson credits Florida Citrus Sports and the city of Orlando for their recent work to bring more events to Camping World.

Orlando City Commissioner Shan Rose said events like soccer matches, bowl games, and the NFL Pro Bowl event have showcased Orlando as a destination city.

“We continue to meet the needs of all of our visitors. We just added two sports football teams, our spring football teams, that have come here,” Rose said. “People want to see sports and people are enjoying it, and more than anything we have a true family friendly environment and atmosphere here in the city of Orlando.”
