Jenny McCarthy has revealed the mysterious illness that left her with “oozing” eye growths and tooth decay.
The Masked Singer judge, 53, said she went through six months of “living hell” due to a medical mystery until she was diagnosed with mycotoxin poisoning — also known as toxic mold.
“The last time I was here, I was literally on my way to the biological dentist because I had gone through six months of living hell,” McCarthy said on Tuesday’s episode of Maria Menounos’ Heal Squad podcast. “I had an infected root canal. What wound up happening was it didn’t get cleaned out all the way.”
McCarthy said that she underwent several surgeries as she tried to figure out the source of her symptoms, which began a few months after her root canal.
The Playboy alum said the untreated infection in the tooth spread to her jawbone, saying: “I had three of these toxic pools hiding under my wisdom teeth, so we did root cavitations and it just kept getting infected. I’m like, ‘What is happening?’ I’m on surgery, like, number eight.”

In addition to her rotting teeth, McCarthy said she began to notice growths on her eyelids. Touching her lower lash line, she continued, “On the eyelid right here, it looked like the nastiest whitehead, pus-filled eraser top growing.”
McCarthy — who is a well-known supporter of the anti-vaccine movement — said health professionals tried to tell her she needed to wash her eyes more, but that answer wasn’t enough for her. She had the growth removed only for it to grow back four weeks later.
“Now I’m into July, oozing infection coming through my eye, my mouth is being infected, we put the implants in, the implants were rejected, and I’m like, ‘What is going on!?’” the model said.
After months of surgeries and antibiotics, McCarthy said her doctor told her she was the “healthiest patient” she had, so they decided to “dig deeper” and test her for mold. The tests came back positive.
“The reason why you’re having constant infections, your body won’t heal, you’re oozing things is because you have mold,” McCarthy recalled her doctor telling her. “You have mycotoxin poisoning.”
McCarthy said that because of her fragile immune system, she was highly susceptible to mold poisoning because mycotoxins “bury themselves underneath microfilm in your gut and in your nose,” she said. Her doctor told her that if the mold had crossed her blood-brain barrier, then she could have had seizures.
After learning her diagnosis in December, McCarthy began a “heavy duty mold protocol” in January that she expects to take for a year.
