If you experienced some major Fortnite downtime on April 1 or leading into the day, that’s because Epic was preparing the game for the new content.
From big heads to finger guns and a lack of fall damage, there’s a lot of fun new additions in the April Fool’s Day update, so make sure you play it while you have the chance—you don’t have long!

You only have until April 2nd, 5:30 AM ET, to make the most of the Fortnite April Fools Update 2026.
Quite simply, it’s a one-day-only affair. This content is particular to April Fools’ Day. Once the celebration is over, you can wave goodbye to novelty finger weapons for at least another year—unless Epic decides to bring some of these features back as a bonus between now and then.
