Man charged with attempted murder after incident in South Bristol

A man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was found seriously injured at an address in South Bristol over the weekend.

It comes after an incident at a residential property in Fortfield Road, Whitchurch on Saturday, March 28.

Avon and Somerset Police said officers found a man, in his 60s, with serious injuries at the address and he remains in hospital.

In an update on Tuesday (March 31), the force said Thomas Gwyther, 34 and from Hengrove, had been charged with attempted murder.

He appeared before Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 30, where he was remanded to appear at Bristol Crown Court on May 6.

A woman, in her 60s, who was arrested over the weekend has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police and forensic officers were seen in the area on Sunday morning (March 29).
