Lizzo revealed that she decided to remain a virgin after promising herself she wouldn’t have sex until she “won a Grammy”.

She told the “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast she “lied” about her virginity “for a long time” because she found her lack of sexual experience “embarrassing,” but she finally took the leap back in 2020.

“I was a late bloomer. I lied about it for a long time. Can I just tell you the year? 2020. Isn’t that crazy? I wasn’t even thinking about it for me, I just promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn’t have sex until I won a Grammy,” she explained.

When asked if she would have stuck to her promise if she hadn’t won a Grammy award, Lizzo replied, “Who knows?”

The singer won three Grammys in 2020, taking home Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts,” Best Urban Contemporary Album for “Cuz I Love You (Deluxe)” and Best Traditional R B Performance for “Jerome.”

However, the singer insisted she didn’t lose her virginity that night, saying, “It was not the night of the Grammys …”

Lizzo went on to reveal she felt better after sharing her secret because she spent a long time lying about it.

“I feel a weight off of my chest right now. It was so embarrassing. I was in a friend group of girls. We were all girling one night and it was like,’Wait, Lizzo are you a virgin?’ I remember it was so embarrassing. I said, ‘I love the D.’ I said that. And it held me over for a little while.”

Lizzo also opened up about her relationship status, revealing she’s enjoying dating comedian/actor Myke Wright.

She explained they first met in 2016 when they worked together on MTV music series “Wonderland,” but they didn’t start dating until 2021.

“We met in 2016. We weren’t dating. We worked on an MTV show together … I was kind of a brat back then … We started dating in like 2021 … We stayed in touch … before starting dating,” she shared.
