Who was voted off Survivor last night? Season 50 episode 6 recap

Coach talks his return to Survivor for season 50 at Milwaukee event
Survivor legend Benjamin “Coach” Wade was in Milwaukee for a watch party and concert on Wednesday, March 11, and discussed why he returned to compete in season 50.
“Survivor” 50’s Blood Moon twist was a bloodbath of eliminations during the sixth episode of the landmark season.
Not one, not two, but three castaways were voted off during the April 1 episode, the first time three people were voted out in one night and a twist that has many fans disappointed.
With a 24-member cast – the franchise’s largest – and a 26-day season, double or triple eliminations were bound to start happening.
And they sure have in a big way. Last week, two people were voted off, leaving 17 contestants as the cast entered the merge stage, also the largest group at this point of any season.
But the merged tribe didn’t last long. After two people were sent to Exile Island for the night – saved from any of the tribal councils – that left 15 people set to compete in the immunity challenge. Split into three groups of five, three immunity necklaces were on the line, as well as a reward. But the big twist was that every grouping would be heading to tribal council.
Who won the immunity necklaces, who was voted out before getting a chance to be on the jury that will crown the winner and who’s left? Here’s a recap of the “Survivor” 50 sixth episode:
Who was voted out of Survivor last night?
Kamilla Karthigesu (season 48), Genevieve Mushaluk (season 47) and Colby Donaldson (seasons 2, 8 and 20) were voted off “Survivor” during the April 1 episode.
All but two of the castaways went to tribal council as part of the Blood Moon twist. Ozzy Lutsch and Rizo Velovic were saved, thanks to an earlier twist in the episode. Lutsch found an advantage hidden on the island, his reward was to leave the camp for Exile Island and he took Velovic with him. The two didn’t compete in the immunity challenge and didn’t have to go to any of the three tribal councils, sending both into the final 14.
The remaining 15 were split into groups of five for the immunity challenge, where players had to balance against two walls and their feet positioned on tiny footholds. Whoever could hold on the longest among their group won immunity.
Here were the groups and who later went home from each:
- Kamilla Karthigesu, Tiffany Ervin, Jonathan Young, Chrissy Hofbeck and Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick (immunity winner)
Karthigesu was blindsided on a 3-2 vote. Karthigesu, who took fourth place in season 48, had strong words for Young on her way out after he cast the swing vote against her. Young joined “old schoolers” Hofbeck and Kendrick in voting out Karthigesu. Ervin and Karthigesu went with Hofbeck.
- Genevieve Mushaluk, Joe Hunter, Christian Hubicki (immunity winner), Rick Devens and Aubry Bracco
Mushaluk was on the wrong end of the twists in season 50. She knew she was on the outs in this grouping and didn’t want to go out without trying everything at her disposal, leading her to play her Shot in the Dark. But it didn’t save her. All of the votes went toward the strategic threat. It’s a tough ending for Mushaluk, who earlier in the game was in the majority on her original tribe and had found two Billie Eilish Boomerang Idols but never got to play them. But she wasn’t bitter. In a touching moment, Mushaluk gave her jacket to rival Aubry Bracco following her vote-out. A class act.
- Colby Donaldson, Benjamin “Coach” Wade, Dee Valladares (immunity winner), Cirie Fields and Emily Flippen
The show’s ending saw the exit of a “Survivor” legend in an emotional tribal. Donaldson, who first appeared on “Survivor” 25 years ago during the second season, was voted out unanimously. Due to losing a journey challenge during the premiere episode, Donaldson didn’t have a vote at tribal. It was Donaldson’s fourth time playing but he noted how he felt rejuvenated this go-around. He reflected on his “Survivor” journey during a tearful tribal council. Donaldson, who had a foot injury suffered in an earlier challenge, limped off after having his torch snuffed. He said in an interview with Parade that he would have been medically evacuated if he wasn’t voted out.

It’ll be the first time since season 39 that the reunion will be live and in front of an audience. Fans voted for the return of the live reunion last year as one of many aspects that people could have their say on in a season title “In the Hands of the Fans.”
