Rod Stewart’s gut-wrenching death confession after devastating cancer diagnosis

Rod Stewart’s wife Penny Lancaster has opened up about the impact of his prostate cancer diagnosis in her new book and the emotional promise he made to her

Rod Stewart made a defiant statement about his own demise when he was diagnosed with cancer. In Rod’s wife Penny Lancaster’s book Someone Like Me, she discussed the impact of Rod’s cancer diagnosis in 2017.

After deciding to keep the news private until they had more information, Penny eventually turned to antidepressants and therapy to cope with the burden. Following the health scare, Rod promised her 20 more years together.

In an interview with The Times, Penny said that Rod has a laid-back attitude towards death, stating: “He feels like when the time’s up, the time’s up, but he’ll go in a flame of laughter and fun.”

Rod battled cancer for two years before getting the all-clear in July 2019. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017 during a routine appointment.

Doctors found he had an aggressive form of cancer, but Rod was resolved to keep the issue private while they awaited further test results.

Penny confessed in her book that the wait for results was “excruciating,” yet Rod remained optimistic and planned his upcoming tour while still in the recovery room.

Meanwhile, Penny was silently dealing with her own struggles and admitted that keeping the secret was a huge challenge.In her book she characterised it as an “agonising wait,” reports the Express.

Penny revealed: “I felt incredibly low, and my depression spiralled further, and I realised that to be strong for both myself and Rod, I might need some help too.”

She briefly started taking anti-depressants, which she has described as the “life-raft” she desperately needed at the time.
