Bristow’s Jayden Ross plays in March Madness Final Four tonight

Bristow’s Jayden Ross is one win away from the NCAA Division I men’s basketball national championship game.
Ross, a junior forward for the University of Connecticut, faces Illinois in the Final Four on Saturday in Indianapolis, with the winner advancing to Monday’s title game. Tip-off is at 6:09 p.m. on TBS and truTV.
Ross and the Huskies reached the Final Four by upsetting Duke in the Elite Eight on March 29. Duke led UConn 44-29 at halftime, but the Huskies outscored the Blue Devils 44-28 in the second half to win 73-72.
Ross, a 6-foot-7 wing, didn’t attempt any shots in 21 minutes off the bench, but did contribute three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
On the losing end of the game was Manassas’ Patrick Ngongba II, a 6-11 center for Duke. In 22 minutes off the bench, Ngongba recorded six points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.
Elsewhere in the Elite Eight, Nate Ament and the Tennessee Volunteers were eliminated by the Michigan Wolverines on March 29. Ament, a 6-11 forward from Manassas, finished 2-12 from the floor with seven points, six rebounds, two assists and one block in the 95-62 defeat.
Now, Ross is the lone Prince William County native left in the tournament. If the Huskies defeat Illinois on Saturday, they’ll advance to face either Arizona or Michigan in the final on Monday.
The championship game tips off at 8:30 p.m. on Monday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.
