Further Details Emerge On Ex-Turnstile Guitarist Brady Ebert’s Attempted Murder Charge

Additional details have come to light regarding the March 29th, 2026 incident involving ex-Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert and William Yates, father of Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates. The police report for the incident indicates that 33-year-old Ebert pulled up to William‘s household in the Silver Spring, MD area in his car and had begun honking his horn and shouting obscenities at William‘s daughter, as well as her husband and their children.

Citing surveillance footage provided by a neighbor, the police report states that Ebert was seen to have been acting aggressively from his vehicle towards the couple and their children, with William thus coming down the driveway, seemingly in an attempt to wave off Ebert.

Ebert is said to have then swerved at William in his car, causing William to step back to avoid being hit. William is said to have then thrown a rock grabbed from the driveway at Ebert‘s Buick LeSabre, striking the car in a rear door.

This seemingly caused Brady to reverse the car and ultimately accelerate towards William, striking him as he attempted to avoid being hit. It was noted in the report that Ebert‘s actions took place in close proximity to Williams‘ daughter and her 3-year-old son. Initial reporting from local media quoted police that Ebert later returned to the scene while William was injured awaiting medical attention and told him he “deserved it.”

The police report then noted that Ebert later texted his father asking for $200 for a bus ticket for a friend. According to the Yates family, this latest incident involving Ebert was one in a string of increasingly hostile confrontations that had occurred last month. Ebert was alleged to have pulled up near William on March 13th, 2026 to shout obscenities at him. It is alleged during that incident, Ebert also made a three-point turn and swerved at William, giving him a middle finger. Several days later, Ebert is alleged to have pulled up to the Yates house and shouted obscenities at the wife of William and her friend.

Turnstile and Brady Ebert parted ways back in August of 2022, and reports soon emerged that the split was contentious. Unsuccessful attempts at filing temporary peace orders against Ebert were made by individuals in the band , including Brendan, drummer Daniel Fang and bassist Franz Lyon.

While little of those tensions made it to the press in the years since, Ebert became increasingly hostile publicly towards his ex-bandmates, earlier this year, taking numerous public jabs at them via social media, allegedly making disparaging remarks about their live performances, and reportedly sharing purported private conversations between himself and the band.

This past February, months after forming a new band The S.E.T., he was ejected from the group ahead of their debut release, with his bandmates stating at the time:

Brady is no longer a member of THE S.E.T. We will not stand by his ridiculous comments and behavior toward the members of our band and our community. We will continue to put on for Baltimore hardcore and thank everyone for their support.”

Ebert went on to condemn his ex-bandmates in The S.E.T., urging fans to not support the outfit. Weeks after that firing, Ebert returned with the announcement of another musical venture, Experience.

Ebert currently faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault for the March 29th incident involving William Yates and remains in custody, having been denied bond. Per new reporting from The Baltimore Banner, William suffered a broken leg that left a bone exposed from the incident and has underwent surgery for the matter.

The Baltimore Banner also note that Ebert was faced with a foreclosure of his Baltimore, MD area home in 2024. That residence later sold for $175,000. Per The Banner, Ebert is said to have voiced his concerns to a district court commissioner that his financial situation was in apparent disarray because, “the band that pays me royalties is stealing from me.”

Per The Baltimore Banner, At his bond hearing earlier this week, Ebert is said to have pleaded with the judge to watch the surveillance video of the incident. He implied that the footage would dispute the police and prosecution’s assessment of the incident, stating, “I will 100% guarantee that it will contradict their statements.” Ebert is also said to have referred to William as a “maniac” during the hearing, referencing William throwing a rock at him.

Citing the surveillance footage and police report, Assistant State’s Attorney Dominic Plantamura argued that the footage showed that Ebert‘s actions were “a clearly targeted attack” on William. Court proceedings also revealed that Brady had been living with his father at the time of the incident.

While Turnstile remained silent in the face of the various negative commentary lodged against them by Ebert over recent months, they broke their silence earlier this week in response to this shocking escalation. Speaking on April 02nd, they stated:

Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community. After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence.

In the years since, his baseless tirades have continued in public. We never addressed it. We chose to protect his privacy and the circumstances around his departure, even when he did nothing to be deserving of that protection. Over the past few months, his threats only escalated further.

This past week, that violence led to a physical attack when Brady went to the house of Brendan’s parents and used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father, causing severe physical trauma. We are grateful that Mr. Yates survived, has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery.

We have no language left for Brady. Please respect our privacy at this time.”

Ebert had previously been identified by Brendan as being a childhood friend. A police report on the March 29th incident described Ebert as being a “neighbor”, noting that both Ebert and the Yates residence were located on the same street.
