AG: Responding to Domestic Incident, Officer Shot and Killed a Woman in Northfield

Police responded to a domestic disturbance early Monday morning in Northfield that resulted in a woman being shot to death by one of the responding officers, according to a press release from Attorney General John Formella.
The incident reportedly occurred at a private residence.

“The exact circumstances surrounding this incident are now under active investigation. The name of the deceased will be released following notification of next of kin, and an autopsy will be scheduled by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner,” the release said.
There is no known threat to the public at this time, and more information will be released as it becomes available, the release said. The name of the officer wasn’t immediately available as is protocol in officer-involved shootings.
