‘Lost 28kg during my two-year PSL absence,’ reveals Sharjeel Khan

Hyderabad Kingsmen batter Sharjeel Khan has revealed that he lost 28 kilograms over the past two years while working on his fitness during his absence from the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In an interview with a private media outlet, Sharjeel said that the break from the league was challenging but helped him improve both his fitness and overall game.
“It is not easy to perform immediately after a long gap, but I prepared myself fully to make this comeback successful,” he said.
The left-handed batter said that he realised the level of fitness required to continue playing professional cricket for a long time. He added that although this understanding came late, it proved important for his career.
Sharjeel said that he worked with a professional trainer and dietitian during this period. “I focused on my fitness for two years and lost 28 kilograms. This process not only helped me reduce weight but also taught me how to adopt a better lifestyle,” he said.
He added that he continued playing domestic cricket and other leagues to stay ready for competition while maintaining his fitness routine.
Speaking about his team Hyderabad Kingsmen, Sharjeel said the side is new and will take time to settle. He expressed hope that the team will improve its performance during the Karachi leg of the tournament.
“We just need one win and our momentum will change,” he said.
Sharjeel described the dressing room environment as positive and said foreign players have helped improve team harmony.
On his batting role, he said he prepared to bat in the middle order according to the team’s needs. “As soon as the squad was finalised, I started practising for the middle overs about a month and a half earlier so I could contribute wherever needed.”
Talking about his personal goals, Sharjeel said his main focus is to help the team win. He added that he aims to deliver match-winning performances in at least three to four matches during PSL 11.
The batter has so far played one match in the ongoing season of the PSL, scoring 51 runs off 26 balls. He has represented the Pakistan national cricket team in 25 ODIs and 21 T20Is.
