4 injured, 2 arrested during shooting at fast food restaurant

MONTICELLO, Miss. (WLBT) – Four people were injured during a shooting at a Sonic in Monticello.
According to the Monticello Police Department, officers received a call regarding an active shooter around 10:58 a.m. on Monday.
Officers from the Monticello Police Department and deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, where four people were found injured with gunshot wounds.
Multiple other businesses in the area were also struck by gunfire.
Additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues, according to the Monticello Police Department.
The identities of the victims and the people arrested have not been released.
“I ask that you join me in keeping them in your thoughts and prayers as they recover,“ Monticello Police Chief Sterling Allen said. ”I would like to personally thank our responding agencies; the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Fire Department, Lawrence County Volunteer Fire Department, Life Guard Ambulance Service, Med Air, Prentiss Police Department, Mississippi Department of Corrections, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control, Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.”
