Michael J. Fox Responds to Report Saying He’d Died

Michael J. Fox is reassuring fans that he’s doing just fine after a CNN report was published saying he had died.
The actor addressed the mishap in a post on Threads on April 8.
“How do you react when you turn on the TV and CNN is reporting your death? Do you…A) switch to MNSBC, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, (B) Pour scolding hot water on your lap, if it hurts your fine, (C) Call your wife, hopefully she’s concerned but reassuring, (D) Relax, they do this once every year, (E) Ask yourself wtf ?” Fox wrote.
The 64-year-old ended his post on a light note, writing, “I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me and I’m ok. Love, Mike.”
CNN accidentally published an article and video titled “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox” earlier this week.
A CNN spokesperson shared the following statement with NBC News: “The package was published in error; we have removed it from our platforms and send our apologies to Michael J. Fox and his family.”
Fox’s fans responded to his Threads post and shared his signature sense of humor.
“Go outside and ask the first person you come across: ‘Can you see me?’ Glad you’re ok btw!” one wrote.
Another commented, “Well I hadn’t seen it reported so I’m glad I saw this first… ”
Actor Kathy Griffin also weighed in, writing, “You’re a helluva ghost. ❤️😂.”
Fox, who has Parkinson’s disease, has spoken openly about his health over the years and opened up about his diagnosis in a documentary in 2023. In the documentary, the actor revealed how his wife, Tracy Pollan, reacted to the news.
“‘In sickness and in health,’ I remember her whispering,” he said. “No one outside of my family knew.”
Fox learned that he had Parkinson’s when he was just 29 years old. However, he waited quite some time before he went public with his diagnosis.
“It was seven or eight years after I had been diagnosed … (and) the paparazzi and stuff, they would stand outside my apartment and heckle at me, like, ‘What’s the matter with you?’” Fox previously told Entertainment Tonight.
After going public with the news, Fox was touched to see how people responded.
“It was a great surprise to me that people responded the way they responded. They responded with interest, in the desire to find an answer to the disease, and then I saw that as a great opportunity. I didn’t get put in this position to squander it,” he said.
