Mix of rain and snow forecast Monday as wet weather lingers in Milwaukee

Nearly 10 inches of lake effect snow fell overnight covering Racine and Kenosha Counties.

After getting drenched last week, Milwaukee residents can expect a variety of different weather this week, with a mix of sunny mornings and rainy evenings.

The week could begin with scattered rain and snow showers during the afternoon and evening of Monday, April 6, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan.

National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Quigley told the Journal Sentinel snow accumulation isn’t likely with what he described as scattered “popcorn” snow, but commuters could still be affected by limited visibility.

After a mostly sunny Tuesday, April 7, when the high is forecast at 35 degrees, Milwaukee will again face a chance of rain and snow during the overnight hours. When temperature rises, snow could turn to a slushy mix before becoming rain, Quigley said.

The chance of freezing rain increases near Wisconsin Dells and Montello, the weather service said.

Wednesday, April 8 is expected to be cloudy but warm with a high of 58 degrees, though as much as a quarter inch of rain could fall overnight.

Quigley said there could be thunderstorms mixed with the showers, but severe thunderstorms are not expected.

There is yet another chance of showers Thursday, April 9, when the high is forecast at 63 degrees, and even a slight chance for rain Friday, April 10, the weather service said.
