Supriya Ganesh, who plays Dr. Samira Mohan on “The Pitt,” will no longer appear at the PaleyFest LA 2026 panel about the show on Sunday, April 12, festival organizers confirm to USA TODAY.
The actress was scheduled to attend the TV showcase which takes place days before the Season 2 “The Pitt” finale on April 16 — and after the April 3 announcement that Ganesh, 28, would be departing the HBO medical drama at the end of Season 2.
No reason was given for Ganesh’s withdrawal from the panel, which includes executive producers R. Scott Gemmill, Noah Wyle (Dr. Michael Robinavitch), as well as Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans).
Ganesh told followers on an April 10 Instagram Stories post that, “I will not be at Paleyfest this Sunday,” according to Usmagazine.com and Cosmopolitan, who featured the now-expired post.
“Hi everyone — not sure why it’s not removed off the site but I will not be at Paleyfest this Sunday,” Ganesh wrote against a pink background. “I know some of you bought tickets to see me and I hope you know this is not a decision I take lightly. Love you all.”
USA TODAY has reached out to Ganesh’s representatives for further comment.
The April 3 announcement that Ganesh would leave the show has been framed by “The Pitt” creators as a story-driven move consistent with the churn of personnel in a teaching hospital. Dr. Heather Collins, played by Tracy Ifeachor, left “The Pitt” at the end of Season 1.
The April 3 announcement featured a full-time “The Pitt” hire with Ganesh’s departure. Ayesha Harris, night shift resident Dr. Parker Ellis, has been promoted to a series regular for Season 3.
“Dr. ELLIS got student loans to pay off, we gotta work a double shift!” Harris wrote on Instagram after the announcement. “Been wanting to share this for a while now.”
Harris added a note to “my girl,” the departing Ganesh: “Thank you for being a real one, from day one!”
