Ruby Rose has accused Katy Perry of sexually assaulting her in a nightclub almost 20 years ago. Over the weekend, Rose responded on Threads to a post about Perry reacting to Justin Bieber’s Coachella set, writing, “Katy Perry sexual [sic] assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks.” A representative for Perry has denied the allegations.
Rose, the actress and model best known for Orange Is the New Black and Batgirl, later went into further detail about the alleged incident, which she said took place in her early 20s. Rose claimed that Perry “saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomitted on her.”
In a statement provided to The Cut, a representative for Perry said, “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies. Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
Rose later wrote that she was “not interested in filing a report over this” but added that Perry was “more than welcome to sue me.” The actress said she didn’t think Perry would pursue legal action because “it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people.” Later, Rose wrote that she would be going to a police station to “see if any of my experiences can be investigated.”
The Cut has reached out to a representative for Rose and will update this post if we hear back.
