‘Saturday Night Live’ Heading To Crave & CTV In Canada

From this fall, SNL has a new home in Canada.

Heated Rivalry streamer Crave will stream SNL a day after it lands and it will be simulcast live on linear nework CTV.

The new eps from the 52nd season, which kicks off in a few months, will join Crave’s Saturday Night Live Collection on the Bell Media-owned platform.

The world’s most famous variety show previously aired on Canada’s Global TV. The news comes just a few weeks after Bell Media picked up the new Saturday Night Live UK, which kicked off last month, for Crave. That one also airs on Peacock in the States.

Bell Media said SNL is the most-watched unscripted series among adults aged 18-49 in Canada. It may be a quintessentially American export but it has a rich Canadian heritage. Creator Lorne Michaels was born in Toronto and Canadian stars like Dan Aykroyd and Mike Myers have previously appeared. Most recently, Connor Storrie, who plays Ilya Rozanov in this year’s smash hit Heated Rivalry, which airs on Crave, hosted the show. A French-Canadian version, SNL Québec, aired on Télé-Québec last decade.

“Crave and CTV are proud to be the new home of Saturday Night Live in Canada,” said Justin Stockman, VP, Global Content, Bell Media. “A proven hit for over 50 years, the series has always been at the vanguard of pop culture, setting the tone for modern humour. We will be enjoying alongside viewers when the new season premieres on Crave and CTV.”

Sarah Weaver, Director of Content, Acquisitions & Sales for Bell Media, negotiated the deal with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution.
