Jenson Button has firmly dismissed suggestions he is being lined up to replace Martin Brundle in Sky Sports F1’s commentary box.
The 2009 world champion took to social media to refute recent speculation linking him with a more prominent role at the broadcaster, insisting Brundle remains the key figure in the team.
“I am not positioned to replace Martin; he’s the man when it comes to commentary and insights,” Button wrote.
“As much as I love jumping in when Martin is taking a well-deserved break, I wouldn’t want to do more as I’ve got enough going on!”
The speculation had emerged following a flurry of online reports concerning Sky Sports F1’s commentary arrangements, prompting Brundle himself to dismiss claims about changes to his workload as “utter clickbait nonsense.”
Brundle clarified he has maintained a 16-race schedule for several years and continues to do so in 2026, alongside lead commentator David Croft.
Button currently serves as a pundit and expert for Sky Sports F1, stepping in periodically when Brundle takes breaks from his regular duties.
The Briton also holds a team ambassador role with Aston Martin F1 Team on a multi-year deal, supporting their commercial, media and partner operations.
Beyond his broadcasting and ambassadorial commitments, Button has shifted his focus toward historic racing and various business ventures, including his whisky brand.
Sky Sports confirmed their 2026 F1 commentary lineup in March, with Brundle, Croft and Ted Kravitz all retained alongside expert contributors including Button, Bernie Collins, Jamie Chadwick, Nico Rosberg and Jacques Villeneuve.
