Britney Spears Checked Herself Into a Treatment Facility

On Sunday, Britney Spears voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility, a rep for the singer told People. The news comes a month after the pop star was arrested on suspicion of a DUI. On March 4, Spears was pulled over while allegedly “driving erratically at a high rate of speed” on a Southern California freeway. Law-enforcement officials said she “showed signs of impairment,” and she was taken into custody after submitting to a series of sobriety tests. She was released from jail early the next morning.

Shortly after Spears’s arrest, her rep suggested the singer would be getting treatment. In a statement to CNN at the time, her spokesperson called the incident “unfortunate” and “completely inexcusable” and said “her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.” “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” the spokesperson said. “Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

The Cut has reached out to representatives for Spears and will update this post if we hear back.
