Blue Jays’ Lenyn Sosa active, Tyler Fitzgerald optioned to triple-A

Lenyn Sosa has reported to the team and will be available against the Milwaukee Brewers (7:40 p.m. ET / 4:40 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+), the team announced.

Sosa was acquired from the Chicago White Sox on Monday in exchange for outfield prospect Jordan Rich.

The 26-year-old is batting .212/.212/.303 with three RBI in 33 plate appearances and 12 games played with Chicago this season.

Last season, in 544 plate appearances over 140 games played with the White Sox, the Venezuela native hit .264/.293/.434 with 22 homers and 75 RBI.

Sosa mostly played second base for the White Sox, but has seen time at both first and third.

In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays have optioned infielder Tyler Fitzgerald to triple-A. Fitzgerald didn’t make it into a single game since being called up on April 7.

He was acquired from the San Francisco Giants on April 4.
