The Penticton Vees have fired back on enemy ice in the second round of their first ever WHL playoff battle.

On Tuesday evening, the Vees, who were already down two losses in the second round of the playoffs, made it a real matchup.

It was a tense game, starting off with two quick goals early in the game from the Prince George Cougars at their home rink.

But the Vees had their own rapid comeback in the second period, scoring two goals in roughly 10 seconds to tie the game.

In the third period, the Vees took the lead with a goal, only for it to be answered with under five minutes to go in regulation time.

The third period looked like it might be ending with a 3-3 tie, sending the teams to overtime, but then the Vees managed an epic goal with less than two minutes to go.

Then, after the Cougars pulled their goalie in an attempt to tie the game, the Vees scored again on the empty net.

The game finished 5-3 for the Vees, making the overall stauts in the best of four series 2-1 for the Cougars.

The Vees hit the ice again Wednesday night in Prince George for Game Four, and will be back in Penticton at the South Okanagan Events Centre on Friday night for Game Five.

The Penticton Vees are hoping to turn around a tough start to their second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs, facing off against the Prince George Cougars on the road tonight for Game Three.

The Vees could use a win after falling short twice in a row at home to kick off the series this past weekend, losing 4-1 Friday and 6-2 Saturday. The series now stands zero wins to two, in favour of Prince George.

The best-of-four series could be decided in Prince George if the Vees fail to nab one or more wins of the two games scheduled on enemy ice, tonight and tomorrow.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m. both nights. Fans can listen or watch and cheer from afar via the Victory+ app for free, or on the radio at 800 AM.
