Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos: Soon to Be Parents?

The whole world watched them fall in love in broad daylight. Last June, Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos celebrated their union in Venice, the city of love—and the scene of a very real controversy, with some locals claiming that the festivities were disrupting daily life there. At 56 and 62, Sánchez and seem to be swimming in cloudless happiness. But is there still a piece missing from this almost too-perfect picture?

In a new interview with the New York Times, a smiling Sánchez said, “I would have a baby tomorrow.” It was a somewhat enigmatic statement, issued without much precision—she also encouraged the journalist to have more children of her own. All the more reason to ignite speculation.
Sánchez is already the mother of three children. Her eldest son, Nikko, 25, was born during her relationship with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez. She also has another son, Evan, 19, and a daughter, Ella, 18, from her marriage to businessman Patrick Whitesell.
For his part, Jeff Bezos is the father of four children: three boys and an adopted daughter. At 62, is he ready to get back into diapers and bottles? On paper, everything seems to come together: a colossal fortune, experience, and a very visible bond. “I talk about everything with him,” Sanchez told the Times. “Everything! Jeff is my best friend, and I don’t say that lightly.” Still, her spokeswoman was quick to temper the excitement, telling the paper that Sánchez was not having a baby.
In Hollywood, late pregnancies are no longer exceptional—nor are late fatherhoods. Robert De Niro became a father for the seventh time at the age of 80, while Al Pacino announced the birth of his child at 83.
