Edinburgh to Glasgow rail services disrupted due to power outage

Rail services between Edinburgh and Glasgow are facing disruption this morning due to a power outage.

Scotrail confirmed that trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk High may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised as a result.

Trains from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street will run via Falkirk Grahamston and will not call at Falkirk High, the rail operator added.

Disruption is expected to 10:30am.

Network Rail said in a statement on social media: “We’re responding to a loss of power to the overhead wires on the Edinburgh – Glasgow via Falkirk High route.

“Our team are investigating, and we’re working with ScotRail to divert services via Falkirk Grahamston where possible.

“Services via Airdrie/Bathgate are unaffected.”
