ITV The 1% Club’s Lee Mack tells contestant ‘this is your fault’

ITV The 1% Club host Lee Mack told a contestant “This is your fault” after he fell for a joke. The show follows 100 people whose numbers are gradually whittled down as they aim to answer 15 logic-inspired questions,
As each question progresses, the difficulty escalates, beginning with a question that 90% of respondents were able to answer correctly. After each round, the difficulty levels are fired up a notch, with contestants faced with questions that fewer and fewer of those polled answered correctly.
This leads to a final, extremely tough question that just 1% are likely to get right. Contestants are given 30 seconds to work out their answers, with the audience at home being invited to play along with them and try to reach the fabled “1% club”.
Tonight’s episode, Saturday, April 18, saw two contestants appear one after another with the same names as famous faces. The first was named Chris Evans, the same name as the Captain America actor, and the second was Muhammed Ali.

Comedian Lee Mack said the pair were the two coolest contestants to appear on the show due to their names. However, Muhammed joked he was named after the famous boxer, claiming he was his relative.
After a few moments had passed, Muhammed said “I’m joking”, to which Lee said it was Chris’ fault because he had made the same joke just moments before. Chris Evans went out on the 50% question, saying, “I am devastated because I was pretty good at maths at school.” Muhammed had a similar fate just a few questions later.
The “hardest question ever” to be aired on the show, saw seven contestants bowing out at once. It was a “10% question” which was asked on the Australian version of the show back in 2023.

The tricky brainteaser goes as follows: “Edna’s birthday is on the sixth of April and Jen’s birthday falls on the 15th of October, therefore Amir’s birthday must be the ‘?’ of January.”
Although this birthday-themed brainteaser was not a 1% question, it still managed to stump 90% of those polled. It also generated much conversation among the show’s fans, which has steadily gained a following since its debut in April 2022.
The logic of this brainteaser relies on the position of words within the sentence rather than any calendar-based math. The word represented by the ‘?’ is the 24th word in the sentence, making Amir’s birthday the 24th of January.
