Love One Louisiana to cover funeral costs for mass shooting victims

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry travelled to Shreveport to address the mass shooting that occurred on W. 79th Street on Sunday, April 19th.
In his remarks, Gov. Landry announced plans for First Lady Sharon Landry’s foundation’s, Love One Louisiana, plans to pay for the funeral expenses of all victims of the shooting.
Also present was Kristi Gustavson, CEO of the Community Foundation of North Louisiana, announced the foundation’s opening of two separate funds:
- April 19th Survivor’s Fund
- Meant to provide for needs of survivors of the shooting
- April 19th Memorial Fund
- Domestic violence prevention

Events of Sunday, April 19th
On Sunday night, the eight victims of the shooting were identified by the coroner’s office. Seven of them are the children of the suspected shooter, Shamar Elkins. He was shot and killed in a confrontation with police in Bossier City after fleeing the scene in Shreveport in a stolen car he had reportedly carjacked from someone.

- Markaydon Pugh, 10
- Sariahh Snow, 11
- Khedarrion Snow, 6
- Braylon Snow, 5
