Mets’ Francisco Lindor exits with left calf tightness after running bases

It was Juan star for another.
The night Juan Soto returned from a right calf strain that sidelined him for more than two weeks, the other Mets offensive talisman suffered an injury of his own that will require an MRI exam.
Francisco Lindor left the game in the fifth inning with a left calf issue after laboring around the bases while scoring on a Francisco Alvarez double in the inning prior.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza — in a somewhat downtrodden mood despite the win — said the shortstop will get the issue looked at Thursday.
“It sucks,” Mendoza said after the 3-2 victory. “And when you see a guy like Lindor, as tough as he is — I knew right away when he was running third base that something wasn’t right there.”
Lindor managed to successfully slide home after Alvarez’s double but took a moment before slowly getting up.
“You could see his face walking towards the dugout,” Mendoza said. “I knew something wasn’t right.”
Lindor had made an imprint in the game before exiting, as he leaped up to catch a liner from Trevor Larnach in the first before chopping an infield single in the bottom of the inning to bring Bo Bichette home.

Mendoza said he wasn’t sure exactly when Lindor’s injury occurred, though Soto’s own calf strain eerily happened while he was running the bases against the Giants on April 3.
The Mets are now potentially looking at another injury nightmare after Soto’s injury kept him out for 15 games — and coincided with the 12-game skid that finally ended Wednesday.
“It’s what we’re dealing with right now,” Mendoza said. “You know, can’t sit here and make excuses. It’s all part of it.
“We lost Soto and we had a hard time. Now, we’ll potentially be dealing with losing another really good player. And we got to figure it out.”
Mendoza, unsurprisingly, said Lindor was likely out for Thursday’s clash against Minnesota.
“We gotta wait and see,” Mendoza said, “what we’re dealing with here.”
