Summer 2026 in New Jersey and New York will feature these big events
America’s 250th birthday, the FIFA World Cup and potentially Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding will all happen this summer.
A frost advisory has been issued for parts of western and central New York, with chilly overnight temperatures expected to put sensitive plants at risk.
Advisory timing and areas
The National Weather Service in Buffalo said the advisory is in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Friday.
The advisory covers Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario and Chautauqua counties, including cities such as Buffalo, Rochester, Niagara Falls, Batavia and Jamestown.
What to expect
Overnight temperatures are forecast to drop into the lower to mid-30s, creating conditions for widespread frost, especially in inland areas away from the lakeshores.
Impacts
Frost could damage or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left unprotected.
What to do
Residents are urged to take precautions, including covering or bringing in tender plants ahead of the cold temperatures.
