Renowned English actor and travel documentarian Michael Palin has completed a multi-week filming mission in the Philippines for a forthcoming Channel 5 series, marking his first major return in nearly three decades.

Palin, who famously chronicled his 1997 visit to Manila, Banaue, and Zamboanga in the series “Full Circle,” confirmed the production on his official website.

The latest journey took him to various provinces, including Palawan, a location he described as “beautiful.”

He is currently in England authoring a book based on the expedition, which is slated for a September 2026 release.

In an Instagram post previewing the project, Palin described the Philippines as a nation of “striking paradoxes” and noted the hospitality of its citizens.

“This September, join Michael on an epic journey across the archipelago — a place of remarkable beauty, variety, and striking paradoxes,” the post read. “Along the way, he meets some of the warmest and friendliest people he has ever encountered.”

The upcoming series and book also promise a rare glimpse into the country’s political sphere. Palin teased a significant encounter in his social media update, saying that he “finds himself closer to the Marcos family than he ever thought possible, in a meeting he never expected to have.”

The project serves as a modern follow-up to his 245-day global trek in the late nineties, documenting how the country has evolved since his last major visit.
