Heathrow Airport car park flooded after ‘water issue’ with cars halfway submerged

Heathrow Airport has apologised to passengers after a third-party car park used by airport staff and holidaymakers became flooded due to a “localised” water issue.

Footage showed dozens of cars steeped in water following the floods yesterday (Wednesday, May 13), with contractors on the site. Some of the cars in the video were halfway submerged in the water. It is understood the car park in question is located off the Eastern Perimeter Road, close to a hotel.

The post appeared alongside the caption, “Hope you’re not on holiday and parked up at Heathrow”. It attracted scores of responses.

One person wrote: “Anyone who parks at Heathrow car parks needs their head testing, use public transport!”

Another added: “This exact same car park did the exact same thing last year, would have thought the company would have learned a lesson.”

A Heathrow spokesperson said: “Yesterday morning, a localised water issue affected a third-party parking provider. The issue has since been resolved.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and advise that passengers who believe their vehicle may have been affected should contact their parking operator and, if necessary, their motor insurer.”
