HGTV star Alison Victoria recently revealed the one word she thinks got her fired from her show, Battle on the Beach, after four seasons.

During an interview with the Daily Mail published on May 15, the interior designer explained her theory about her axing. She served as a mentor and co-host of the series for four seasons, alongside Taniya Nayak and Ty Pennington.

“I said that Battle on the Beach was canceled,” she pointed out, of a comment she made during a July 2025 episode of her Pap Smear Podcast. “Now, that word should not have been used. I should have said it was ‘not renewed.’ That’s the language that I should have used.”

In the episode, Victoria had been speaking with comedian and actress Retta, her co-host for Ugliest House in America. “Battle on the Beach did not get picked back up, which is sad because it was like adult spring break,” she said on the podcast. Victoria also criticized the show’s production, adding, “But I believe it was all editing.”

Fast-forward to May 11, and HGTV announced that Battle on the Beach would return on June 1 — despite Victoria’s claim that it was canceled. However, both Victoria and Nayak were replaced by HGTV stars Sarah Baeumler and Mika Kleinschmidt. However, their fellow co-host, Pennington, is returning. Renovation Aloha stars Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama will serve as judges.

Victoria said that she was with Nayak when she heard the news. “I looked at her and I just said, ‘I expected that for me,’” Victoria said. She added, “Part of me hopes that maybe they didn’t ask me back because they knew I didn’t have time. I don’t know.”

Despite Victoria’s axing from Battle on the Beach, she still has other HGTV shows, including Sin City Rehab, which was renewed for Season 2, as well as Scariest House in America and Ugliest House in America.

Battle on the Beach Season 5, premiering on Monday, June 1, at 9 p.m. ET on HGTV
