What festivals and events are happening in the area from May 18 to 24?

Gather your family or friends, get in the car and attend one, or all, of these exciting festivals or events scheduled for the week of May 18-24, 2026.

PAGE TO SCREEN FILM SERIES: JUMANJI — Watch the 1995 classic starring Robin Williams from 6 to 8 p.m. May 19 at the St. Joseph County Public Library, Community Learning Center, 305 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Jumanji is rated PG and is adapted from the 1981 picture book by Chris Van Allsburg.

“LISTEN UP” — New Day Intake Center’s Motels4Now Art Workshop will exhibit “Listen Up” at the Civil Rights Heritage Center, 1040 W. Washington St., South Bend, from May 19 to July 31. It will feature 10 artwork pieces by 10 different artists. Artwork will be available for purchase but must remain on display through July 31. From 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 19, there will be an opening reception for the exhibit.

SHIPSHEWANA FLEA MARKET — Discover unique treasures and unbeatable bargains at the Shipshewana Flea Market every Tuesday and Wednesday through Sept. 30, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. More than 600 vendor spaces across 40 acres. New this year is a dedicated green space in the food truck area, complete with playground equipment for the kids. Also, on Wednesdays attend the weekly auction beginning at 9 a.m. The market is at 345 S. Van Buren St., Shipshewana.

THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR — Lest We Forget of Southwest Michigan is hosting Sally Hadden from Western Michigan University from 7 to 9 p.m. May 19 at Lake Michigan College, Room D-105, 2755 E. Napier Ave., Benton Harbor. She will present “State Constitutions of the Revolutionary Era.” Hadden will discuss state constitutions at a general level and some of the oddities they include.

VICKERS THEATRE CINEMA — Vickers Theatre, 6 N. Elm St., Three Oaks, will offer the following films this week. For tickets and more information on each movie, go to vickerstheatre.com. Tickets: adults, $12; seniors/students, $10.

•  May 19 at 7 p.m.: The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026), Rated PG-13.

• May 21 at 7 p.m.: His Girl Friday (1940), Not Rated.

NATIVE PLANT SALE — The Berrien County Conservation District is hosting its annual native plant fundraiser sale from noon to 4 p.m. May 20 at Berrien County Youth Fairgrounds, 9122 U.S. 31, Berrien Springs. Enter at the office gate entrance. Purchase native plants in quarts or flats, rain barrels, composters, and specialized merchandise. At 2 p.m., local authors Tera Baker and her daughter will host a reading and signing event for their new children’s book, “A Rainbow Striped Field for Fuzz.” All pre-ordered plants must be picked up during this time.

STUDEBAKER SPEAKER SERIES: FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT & THE AUTOMOBILE — Brandon J. Anderson, executive director and CEO of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, will give this presentation at 1:30 p.m. May 20 at Studebaker National Museum, 897 Thomas St. The presentation explores Wright’s deep appreciation for the automobile as both a symbol of personal freedom and an extension of innovative design. Admission is $2 or free to museum members, at the door. Light refreshments will follow the presentation.

CLIMATE AND OUR WATERWAYS — Join Alan Hamlet, professor at the University of Notre Dame, for a presentation on how climate change impacts local waterways here in the St. Joseph River watershed. This free presentation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. May 21 at the Elkhart County Historical Museum, 304 W. Vistula St., Bristol.

ESSENHAUS CLASSIC CAR CRUISE-IN — From 4:30 to 8 p.m. May 21, you are invited to stroll through vintage vehicles and compare makes, models and memories at this free event. MAC & CHEESE FEST — This event brings gourmet mac & cheese, craft beer, cider, seltzers and more to Four Winds Field from 5 to 10 p.m. May 23. Live music by Whiskey Friends. SOUTH BEND COMIC BOOK CONVENTION — Dealers will have a large variety of comic books new and old, toys, and related collectibles for sale. Some dealers will also purchase items from attendees. MICHIANA SPRING CLAY TOUR — This one-day event will showcase several new and existing ceramic studios across northern Indiana from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 23. SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKS — On May 23 at 7:30 p.m., enjoy a new show from Southern Fried Chicks, “Cage-Free Comedy Tour,” with new stories, music, singing, dancing and audience participation. ST. JOSEPH LIGHTHOUSE TOURS — Tours will be offered from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. every Saturday from May 23 to Sept. 5, weather permitting. Begin at the North Pier to the lighthouse at 10 a.m. for a free first floor exhibit. To climb to the top of the lighthouse, there is a fee of $5, cash only at the light house; cash/credit if ticket is purchased at the St. Joe Today Welcome Center at 301 State St., St. Joseph. “THE LERNER LOVES YOU” FREE MOVIE SERIES — The series will take place monthly at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoons offering audiences the chance to enjoy films on The Lerner’s grand screen, free of charge. Seating first-come, first-served. May 24 – “Lilo & Stitch,” the 2025 live action version following a spirited young girl and her mischievous alien friend as they learn the meaning of family, belonging and adventure. SPECIAL CREATURES — Fire Arts Inc. will showcase the exhibit “Special Creatures” through May 29. The show features work done by Fire Arts studio artists and select members of the Michiana art community. Fire Arts Inc. is at 305 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, and is open noon to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

2026 ALUMNA EXHIBITION AT MOREAU GALLERY — Saint Mary’s College alumna Mary Ann Roach Butkovich ’64 work will be on display through May 30. The exhibit is titled “You Paint Too Pretty – My Art Journey.” Moreau Gallery, Moreau Center for the Arts, Saint Mary’s College, South Bend.

“A SIMPLE SANCTUARY – MYSTERY MUSICAL” — Based on a novel by Beverly and David Lewis about Melissa James, who is pursued and living on the run. She finds sanctuary and friendship in Amish country. ZOO LUMINATE — This year’s Zoo Luminate, a Chinese lantern experience, will be held through June 28, Wednesdays through Sundays, 7 to 11 p.m. This year’s theme is “Sea to Believe” with dozens of lanterns depicting undersea animals, habitats, aquatic scenery and more. Admission: $22-$18, zoo members receive a discount. Children 2 and younger are free. Weather permitting, the train and carousel will be open at $3 per person.
