Scott Foley Breaks His Silence on ‘Will Trent’ Departure

What To Know

  • After the Season 4 finale of Will Trent killed off his character in devastating fashion, Scott Foley is speaking out.
  • The actor shared a personal memento from the show and a message to fans.

The finale of Will Trent‘s fourth season saw the team endure yet another devastation as Dr. Seth (Scott Foley) died from his internal injuries after initially surviving a car crash with his new bride Angie (Erika Christensen). The two were en route to deliver their baby, and they were suddenly T-boned on Angie’s side by another car. Though Seth initially appeared unharmed and offered assistance in the field, once he saw Angie safely carted away on a bed, he collapsed and was never seen again.

Dr. Seth joins a growing list of Scott Foley characters to have heartbreaking fates. (Remember Henry Burton from Grey’s Anatomy? Gulp.) And from the actor’s most recent Instagram post, he is taking this goodbye in stride and delivering a warm message of gratitude to the creators and fans of the show.

“What a wonderful gift to receive after a wonderful experience on #willtrent Thanks to the cast and crew, the writers and creators who made the experience so special. This will surely make my wife and daughter say ‘Awww’ each time they pass by and really, that’s enough for me,” he wrote, alongside an image of his name in the show’s title cards being shown above Betty, Will Trent’s (Ramón Rodríguez) prized pooch.

In return, fans flooded his comments with words of praise for his portrayal of the exceedingly decent doctor, who treated Angie with respect and love, gave a timely diagnosis to Michael Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin), and otherwise became a seamless member of the GBI-APD family.

“I was NOT prepared for that! First Amanda, now Seth? What is going on with the writers of Will Trent and why do they hate my favorite characters?!” one fan wrote. “I’m going to miss you on Will Trent. The writers made a big mistake killing you off!!!” another added.

“I knew it was coming because poor Angie can never seem to have consistent happiness, but it made me so sad to lose your character. He was so good and you played him with warmth and humor. You will be missed. Can’t wait to see your next project. Hopefully you won’t be killed off!!” a third fan said.
