Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Wegmans’ southward expansion will take another step later this year.
The company announced Thursday that the grand opening of its first Charlotte, N.C. store is set for Oct. 14 at 9 a.m.
The 110,000 square-foot store, located in Charlotte’s Ballantyne neighborhood, will be Wegmans’ southernmost location yet and is slated to employ approximately 450 people.

The company has already opened four stores in North Carolina — all in the Raleigh-Durham area — since 2019.
Founded in Rochester in 1916, Wegmans currently has 114 stores across nine states (New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina and Connecticut) and Washington, D.C.

Wegmans is also planning a fifth store in the Raleigh-Durham area, as well as its first store in the Pittsburgh area.
